The Farm Family Table⏐Homesteading, Homemaking, Christian Mom

The Farm Family Table⏐Homesteading, Homemaking, Christian Mom New Do you desire a simpler, healthier lifestyle for your family but just feel stuck in the hustle of busy mom life? Do you wish there was an easy way to start homesteading without immediately feeling overwhelmed, burned out, or not good enough? Hi, I’m Jocelyn, and I’m so excited you’re here at The Farm Family Table. I remember when I became a new mom, I wanted to set my child up for their best, healthiest life, but often I felt exhausted and discouraged. I wanted to provide the best food, from-scratch, and be more self-reliant, but it felt impossible to balance learning new skills, taking care of my home, and spending quality time with my kids. I felt overwhelmed by all the things I wanted and needed to do, and felt guilty when I couldn’t keep up. I compared myself to picture-perfect farm life on social media, only to feel like I’m not doing enough but not sure how to do more. This was not the life God had planned for me. But then I discovered a secret to start homesteading the easy way for less stress, more joy, and more time focusing on what matters most, faith and family. What if I told you, there’s a way that you can achieve healthy balance and thrive in this lifestyle that God is calling you to? Want to learn how? Inside this podcast, you will find: - Encouragement for creating a homestead with God at the center - Resources for building knowledge in homesteading skills like cooking from scratch, gardening, food preservation, and raising animals - Practical tips for faith-based family life on the farm I can’t wait for you to join me on this journey, so we can slow down, put God and our families first, and enjoy a more simple, natural, self-sufficient lifestyle. My prayer is that you leave this podcast encouraged in Christ and equipped with practical knowledge for your homestead. Have you ever found yourself daydreaming at work, wishing you could just walk away from the grind and be home — home with your kids, home with your garden, home doing the things that actually matter to you? I think a lot of us know that tug in our hearts. But then reality hits, the bills, the mortgage, the cost of groceries, and it feels like the only way to survive is to keep both incomes going, even when it feels super draining. Today, I want to talk about that exact situation. How do you break free from the dual-income trap when what you really want is to be home, living a simpler, slower, more intentional life? We’ll talk about the practical steps to actually make it happen, and also how to be content in the waiting, because for most of us, this isn’t an overnight decision and the waiting can be the hardest part.
If you feel stuck right now in the job, or the bills, or this cycle of always needing two incomes, I hope this episode gives you the practical wisdom and encouragement you need to step into the life that God is calling you to. Thanks so much for joining me!

Have you ever looked at how much food is in your trash and thought, there’s got to be something else I can do with this? To me, the idea of wasting food feels discouraging, especially when we’re working so hard to feed our families quality food and stretch our grocery budget. The good news is, though, those scraps don’t have to go in the trash. Today, I’m sharing creative, simple, and useful ways to use food scraps so you can save money, reduce waste, and make the most of what comes out of your kitchen.
I hope this episode gives you some new inspiration for looking at your kitchen scraps in a whole new light. Remember, every little step you take to reduce waste not only saves your family money, but also helps you make the most of the resources you already have. Whether it’s turning veggie peels into broth, breadcrumbs from old bread, or even starting compost with what you can’t use, those small choices really do add up over time.
Thanks so much for joining me!

One of the biggest misconceptions about homesteading is that you need land to get started. But the truth is, some of the most important homesteading skills don’t even require a backyard. Today, I want to share with you four foundational skills you can start learning right now—whether you’re in an apartment, a rental, or just dreaming of your future homestead. These are skills that will not only save you money and make your family healthier, but also give you the confidence to really get started when you finally do have enough space for bigger goals.
I hope this episode reminds you that you don’t have to wait for the perfect piece of land to start living a homestead lifestyle. Every skill you practice now, whether it’s cooking from scratch, gardening in pots, preserving food, or learning basic DIY things, sets a foundation for the future and makes this season meaningful too. Don’t get caught up in waiting for ‘someday’. Instead, focus on what God has put in your hands for today.
Thanks so much for joining me!

Have you ever found yourself stuck because you’re putting some of your homestead goals on hold for the perfect time, the perfect setup, or to be the perfect mom? Today we’re talking about something that I think a lot of us wrestle with, especially when we are  trying to juggle family, homesteading, and everything in between. That is perfectionism.
If you've ever said, “I’ll start once I have the right tools,” or “I just need to learn more before I try,” this is the episode for you. Waiting for ideal conditions can rob us of the progress, joy, and confidence that come with just starting where we are. Because the truth is, you don’t need to do it all, know it all, or have it all figured out before you begin. In this episode, I cover 4 ways that perfectionism shows up in homesteading and how you can overcome it if you find yourself struggling in this area.
You don’t need the perfect tools. You don’t need to know everything. You just need to take the next small step. Start the thing. Learn as you go. And give yourself grace along the way. I hope this episode encourages you today. Thanks so much for joining me!

If you’re in the season of raising babies, toddlers, or preschoolers, especially more than one at a time, you know that mornings can feel a little… wild. And some days, just getting everyone dressed and ready before noon feels like a win. In this episode, I want to give you a peek on what my real-life morning routine looks like with three kids under five. Spoiler alert: it’s not fancy, it’s not quiet, and it definitely doesn’t always go as planned—but it’s simple, functional, and sets me up to have grace during my day. Whether you’re trying to build a new rhythm or just looking for a reminder that you’re not alone in the chaos, I hope this episode gives you practical ideas and a whole lot of encouragement.

Your routine doesn’t have to be quiet, overly productive, or perfect. It’s not about squeezing more into your day—it’s about starting with intention, however small that looks. Give yourself grace and just try to make one positive change at a time. I hope you find walking through my morning rhythm uplifting and gives you a few ideas to help your own mornings feel a little more grounded, even in this full, messy, beautiful season of life with littles. Thanks so much for joining me!

Do you ever find it hard to have enough energy to get you through your day? When you’re a homestead mom, the home is a busy place. There’s a lot to get done, and it can be hard to get it  all done when you are dragging in the morning, having a mid-morning crashes, or afternoon slumps. I know when I lack energy, it takes a huge hit to my productivity. Maybe you find yourself slogging through your day with the kids, one cup of coffee at a time? Meanwhile, you keep checking the clock to see if your husband will be home soon so you can just get a little break. Oh boy, if that isn’t a relatable picture for me, I don’t know what else is. With 3 little kids, a husband that works long hours, and a lot of demands placed on me, I need to keep my energy up to hold things together at home. That can be easier said than done, but I want to share 5 ways that I work to improve my energy so I can get more done during the day, and not only that, enjoy the day-to-day workload of a busy homestead mom.
I pray that God would use this episode to pull you out of a slump and find ways to give you the energy you need to parent well, take care of your home, and for your homestead to thrive. I know that is no easy task, but it is a doable one, and I hope you find some of my personal experiences helpful for you too. Thank you so much for joining me!
