The Farm Family Table⏐Homesteading, Homemaking, Christian Mom
The Farm Family Table⏐Homesteading, Homemaking, Christian Mom New Do you desire a simpler, healthier lifestyle for your family but just feel stuck in the hustle of busy mom life? Do you wish there was an easy way to start homesteading without immediately feeling overwhelmed, burned out, or not good enough? Hi, I’m Jocelyn, and I’m so excited you’re here at The Farm Family Table. I remember when I became a new mom, I wanted to set my child up for their best, healthiest life, but often I felt exhausted and discouraged. I wanted to provide the best food, from-scratch, and be more self-reliant, but it felt impossible to balance learning new skills, taking care of my home, and spending quality time with my kids. I felt overwhelmed by all the things I wanted and needed to do, and felt guilty when I couldn’t keep up. I compared myself to picture-perfect farm life on social media, only to feel like I’m not doing enough but not sure how to do more. This was not the life God had planned for me. But then I discovered a secret to start homesteading the easy way for less stress, more joy, and more time focusing on what matters most, faith and family. What if I told you, there’s a way that you can achieve healthy balance and thrive in this lifestyle that God is calling you to? Want to learn how? Inside this podcast, you will find: - Encouragement for creating a homestead with God at the center - Resources for building knowledge in homesteading skills like cooking from scratch, gardening, food preservation, and raising animals - Practical tips for faith-based family life on the farm I can’t wait for you to join me on this journey, so we can slow down, put God and our families first, and enjoy a more simple, natural, self-sufficient lifestyle. My prayer is that you leave this podcast encouraged in Christ and equipped with practical knowledge for your homestead. I know so many of us dream about getting to stay home more, being with our kids, digging deeper into the slow and intentional life, but then reality hits, and the question comes up: “How do we afford it?” The good news is, there are ways that you can start making money from your homestead with a little bit of creativity, willingness, and taking a fresh look at what God has put in your hands. Today, we’re talking about simple, doable, realistic ways you can start generating income right where you are, whether you have acres of land or a backyard with a little patch of potential. This episode is all about opening your eyes to the opportunities right in front of you, that maybe you haven’t thought of just yet, and helping you take that first brave step toward the life you want.
I hope this episode has your wheels turning with some new ideas, and more than that, I hope it gives you a little spark of hope. When you think back on the holidays growing up, I’m willing to bet, the thing you remember most is not the decorations, not the presents, but the thing you remember most is the food. The smell of scalloped potatoes and ham in the oven, have half a dozen choices for pie, the treat tray of homemade goodies that would come out in the afternoon. Those are the memories that stick. But somewhere along the way, chances are after Grandma wasn’t making the meal anymore, our modern holiday season became so busy, so commercialized, that we traded those things for convenience. We grab the pre-made cookie dough, the store-bought pies, the boxed side dishes or the gravy packet, and while there’s nothing inherently wrong with that, I think many of us feel something is missing. Maybe you find yourself wishing for more or for holidays meals to be like they used to be. Today, I want to talk about how to bring real food back into our kitchens, and give your practical steps on how you create those special traditions for your family. You don’t have to be a gourmet cook or have a picture-perfect kitchen. With a little bit of prioritizing and planning, you can make delicious food from scratch that your kids will remember and talk about for a lifetime, even when you are in the middle of a busy holiday season.
I hope this episode inspires you to make positive changes around holiday food this season, to start incorporating more real ingredients so you can feed your family well. But also know that this is not an all or nothing. This is not a legalistic thing that you shall only eat healthy non-processed foods. This is an opportunity to take baby steps towards better eating, and set your kids up to have a legacy of from-scratch cooking in your home. Thank you so much for joining me!

If you’re anything like me, this time of year can feel like your plate is full. Besides chores, school, kids’ activities, there’s everything that comes with changing seasons and holidays approaching. I know the days can get long and the to-do list even longer. And while putting healthy homemade meals on the table is high on my priority list, sometimes it feels like it’s just out of reach, and then I’m sitting there kicking myself again that we didn’t have a vegetable on the table. But, that’s where the slow cooker comes in. In this episode, I talk about how to make cozy, nutritious meals for your family when you are short on time using one of my favorite small appliances, my slow cooker. So if you are ready to simplify things in your kitchen while still providing delicious, healthy meals, I am so excited to share my favorite tips and recipes so you can focus on the things that are important to you in this season.
I hope this episode encourages you to bring out that slow cooker and make it work for you. It doesn’t have to be fancy, just an opportunity to simplify real food that feeds your family well. If this episode helped you, please share it with a friend who’s feeling stretched thin right now. Sometimes, a simple reminder that homemade doesn’t have to mean complicated can make all the difference. Thank you so much for joining me!

I am always a huge advocate for buying food in bulk when it saves you money. And with the price of meat at the grocery store, buying half a cow can be a great way to save a lot of money on beef. In the process, you are also able to stock your freezer and know exactly where your meat comes from, but the details might feel a little overwhelming. How much does it cost? How much freezer space do you need? Maybe you’re just not quite sure what you’d be getting yourself into. In today’s episode, I am breaking it all down. I’ll walk you through everything you need to know before you buy half a cow, from understanding the terminology and choosing your cuts, to figuring out costs, freezer space, and how to make the most of your purchase. So whether you’re brand new to buying beef in bulk or just want to make your next order a little smoother, this episode will help you feel confident and prepared before you fill your freezer.
I hope this episode helps you feel more confident about buying beef in bulk or just encourages you to think differently about how you feed your family. We’ve been filling our freezer with beef for years at this point, and it’s been a big blessing to our family, especially now as we try to feed a growing family. This can be another great way that you can create a bulk pantry that really provides and nourishes your family.

I know sometimes this homesteading, homemaking, mom-life thing can feel a lot. Between homeschooling, cooking from scratch, keeping up with the garden, and trying to make sure everyone has clean clothes, it’s easy to lose sight of joy in the middle of all the doing. Maybe you’ve been there too, where your days start to feel more like survival mode than anything else. You love your family, you love your home, but you just feel tired. Like you’re running on empty and wondering when you’ll actually feel the peace and joy you thought this lifestyle would bring. Today, I want to talk about how to find joy again, and not just with some pep talk, but how to practically get yourself in a place where you can feel refreshed to pour into your kids and serve your family. So if you’ve been feeling stretched thin, worn out, or just a little disconnected from the life you’re working so hard to build, grab your coffee, and let’s chat about finding joy in our homes again, one simple moment, one simple habit at a time.
I pray that this episode gives you the encouragement that you need today. Thank you so much for joining me!

The further I get in life, the more I realize, life is expensive. Groceries, household supplies, kids’ stuff—it all adds up so quickly. And sometimes it feels like no matter how careful you are, there’s always another thing you’re supposed to buy. But here’s the thing: one of the biggest ways our family has saved thousands of dollars isn’t by couponing or chasing sales… it’s by simply not buying certain things at all. In today’s episode, I’m going to walk you through 30 things I don’t buy anymore, things that used to drain our budget but that we’ve learned to either make ourselves, go without, or replace with a simpler alternative. And really, we are not missing anything. So if you’re looking for practical ways to save money, reduce clutter, and live a little more simply, this episode is for you.
I hope this episode gave you some fresh ideas for saving money without feeling like you’re missing out. Maybe you don’t need to cut all 30 things, but even changing a handful can make a big difference in your budget. It’s really about being resourceful, creative, and intentional, especially in a season where everything feels like it’s getting more expensive. If you’re in that place where you’re trying to make one income stretch, homeschool your kids or be home with your kids, and still put nourishing food on the table, it’s tough! But every small change adds up, even if you start with just one or two things from this list. Thank you so much for joining me!

I think every mom wrestles with this at some point—the pressure to “do it all.” You know what I mean, keeping the house clean, cooking healthy meals, homeschooling or running kids to activities, looking put-together, maybe even working or having a side hustle on top of it, not to mention homesteading goals like gardening, baking, or canning. Somewhere along the way, culture told us that being a “good mom” means juggling it all perfectly, all the time. But truly, none of us can do it all, and the pursuit of that impossible standard only leaves us exhausted, discouraged, and sometimes even resentful in sneaky ways like towards the ones we love. What we can do is learn how to simplify, set realistic priorities, and create rhythms that actually work for our family, not for Instagram, but for the people sitting around our dining table. So in this episode, I share what I’ve learned about how to get it all done, and what that even means to our family.
I hope this episode encourages you, that “doing it all” really isn’t about accomplishing more, it’s about choosing less by redefining what “all” means to you. When you let go of the hustle to achieve the ever unattainable “all”, you create more space for peace, joy, and memories in your home. Thanks so much for joining me!

Have you ever been in a rush to get supper on the table and cracked a box of mac n cheese or pulled a pizza out of the freezer, and thought, well this isn’t really what I wanted to serve my family, but it is what it is. I just don’t have the time or the bandwidth to do something different. And I get it — life is busy, and convenience foods promise to make things easier. But here’s the thing, a lot of those “shortcuts” actually cost us more money, they fill our kitchens with ingredients we can’t even pronounce, and leave us with a less satisfying version of what they could have been. But, if you are looking for easy ways to feed your kids foods that they enjoy eating, that are actually good for them. There is a better way. Today, I want to share 7 convenience foods you can stop buying and start making at home, even if you feel like you are too busy. These are simple swaps, super kid-friendly, budget-friendly staples that will save you money, taste better, and give you that peace of mind that comes from knowing exactly what’s in your food.
I think sometimes the biggest barrier to providing healthy food for our family is ourselves. We tell ourselves we don’t have enough time, that it’s too complicated or too much when we have little kids, but it can actually be more manageable than what you realize. I hope this episode shifts your perspective on buying these 7 common convenience foods and easy ways you can make them at home instead. Thanks so much for joining me!
