The Farm Family Table⏐Homesteading, Homemaking, Christian Mom

The Farm Family Table⏐Homesteading, Homemaking, Christian Mom New Do you desire a simpler, healthier lifestyle for your family but just feel stuck in the hustle of busy mom life? Do you wish there was an easy way to start homesteading without immediately feeling overwhelmed, burned out, or not good enough? Hi, I’m Jocelyn, and I’m so excited you’re here at The Farm Family Table. I remember when I became a new mom, I wanted to set my child up for their best, healthiest life, but often I felt exhausted and discouraged. I wanted to provide the best food, from-scratch, and be more self-reliant, but it felt impossible to balance learning new skills, taking care of my home, and spending quality time with my kids. I felt overwhelmed by all the things I wanted and needed to do, and felt guilty when I couldn’t keep up. I compared myself to picture-perfect farm life on social media, only to feel like I’m not doing enough but not sure how to do more. This was not the life God had planned for me. But then I discovered a secret to start homesteading the easy way for less stress, more joy, and more time focusing on what matters most, faith and family. What if I told you, there’s a way that you can achieve healthy balance and thrive in this lifestyle that God is calling you to? Want to learn how? Inside this podcast, you will find: - Encouragement for creating a homestead with God at the center - Resources for building knowledge in homesteading skills like cooking from scratch, gardening, food preservation, and raising animals - Practical tips for faith-based family life on the farm I can’t wait for you to join me on this journey, so we can slow down, put God and our families first, and enjoy a more simple, natural, self-sufficient lifestyle. My prayer is that you leave this podcast encouraged in Christ and equipped with practical knowledge for your homestead. A new year means a new calendar, fresh goals, and all the pressure that seems to come with it. Everywhere you look, it’s “new year, new you,” and sometimes that can feel exciting and sometimes it can feel exhausting before the year has even really begun. If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by resolutions, long to-do lists, or the expectation to completely overhaul your life in January, you’re not alone. Today, I want to offer a different way, a more gentle start to the new year that focuses on preparation without overcommitment. We’ll talk about practical ways to plan your days, your home, and your routines without losing your margin or your joy. I hope you leave this episode with a little more peace about the new year, that it doesn’t have to start with pressure, perfection, or exhaustion.

Christmas is such a beautiful time of year. We talk about peace and joy… But as moms, there’s a lot of weight on us to make Christmas special, and sometimes it’s hard to feel that peace. If you’re the one doing most of the cooking, planning, wrapping, cleaning, and hosting, it can also feel like the season where everyone else rests, and you just work harder.
In this episode I talk about what it looks like to serve joyfully at Christmas without burning out. If you’re heading into Christmas knowing you’ll be doing a lot of the work, I want you to hear this: You don’t have to be the martyr. You don’t have to carry it all. And you don’t have to do it without joy.
With simple plans, honest boundaries, and a heart anchored in who you’re serving, this can be a Christmas where you serve freely from a place of love.
Wishing you all Christmas blessings of peace and joy with your families. Thanks for listening!

One thing that I never thought about before kids is how much time and effort it takes to feed everyone and put 3 meals on the table each day. There are times when meal planning can feel like a full-time job all on its own. As moms, we’re already juggling chores, kids, and all the little details of daily life. And then there’s dinner—every single night. Deciding what to cook, gathering ingredients, prepping, cooking, cleaning…it can be a lot. It’s easy for it to get overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be that way.
And a secret is: sometimes less variety is actually a good thing. Today, we’re going to talk about why keeping meals simple can save you time, reduce stress, and make cooking from scratch easier. I’m going to give you some practical suggestions for meal rotations that can help keep your kitchen under control.
I hope this episode gives you some encouragement to simplify your meals and take a little mental load off your shoulders. You don’t have to reinvent dinner every night to make your family happy and fed. The less stress you feel about dinner, the more energy you’ll have for other things, whether that’s gardening, getting your house clean, or dealing with toddler meltdowns.
Thanks for listening!

It’s one thing to grow your own food, take care of animals, and cook from scratch, but it’s another thing entirely to open your door and invite people into your real, lived-in home. Yet hospitality has always been such an important part of homemaking and biblical community. It’s a ministry we get to offer, not when everything is perfect, but right in the middle of real life.
Scripture reminds us that welcoming others is one of the simplest ways we can show the love of Christ, and it doesn’t require anything fancy. Today, we’re talking about how to make your home a cozy, welcoming place to be, not with expensive, Pinterest-perfect décor, but with the little things that create warmth and comfort, and the heart posture that opens the door to real connection.

Have you ever tried to add one more thing to your homestead but felt like there just aren’t enough hours in the day. I am willing to bet that at one point or another you have looked at your to-do list, glanced around at the dishes, the laundry, your garden outside, and the kids asking for a snack again, and thought, “How am I supposed to get any of this done?” You are absolutely not alone! We’re living in a world that is more distracting than ever. Social media, constant notifications, comparison, endless information… all of it pulls our attention in a hundred directions. And when you combine that with real life: raising kids, homeschooling, homemaking, maybe working a job on top of everything, homesteading can start to feel overwhelming instead of fulfilling. But what might not be obvious is that you don’t actually need more time. You might want more time, but you just need to reclaim the time you already have. In this episode, we’re talking about how to do exactly that. We’ll talk about the hidden things that steal your time that you might not even be noticing, practical rhythms that make your day flow easier, and simple mindset shifts that help you prioritize and bring more peace and purpose back into your homestead.
I hope this episode encouraged you and gave you a fresh perspective on how you can reclaim your time in a world that’s constantly pulling you in different directions. You’re juggling a lot. Homesteading, raising a family, keeping a home, these are big, meaningful things. You weren’t meant to do them perfectly, you were meant to do them faithfully, through asking the Lord for help. So remember, you don’t have to work harder, you just have to be more intentional with the time you already have. Thank you so much for joining me!

Whether you like it or not, winter is just around the corner. Once the true cold sets in and the snow hits, that means the balancing act begins, trying to keep everyone healthy while staying indoors more and battling the never-ending runny noses. I know as moms, it can feel like we’re constantly on guard, waiting for the next bug to sweep through the house. I’ve been there, but knock on wood, the last few years have been pretty good for us as far as sickness, and I’ve come to realize that we’re not powerless when it comes to our kids' health. There are simple, everyday habits that make a huge difference in our family’s immune health. So today, we’re going to talk about practical, holistic habits that support the immune system. If you’re ready to enter this winter season with more confidence (and hopefully fewer sick days), you’re in the right place.
I hope this episode leaves you feeling a little more equipped, and maybe even encouraged that you don’t have to slog through months of illness, as we head into the winter months. Keeping our families healthy doesn’t have to be overwhelming or complicated. Healthy habits and good hygiene really do work when it comes to preventing sickness, and that the effort that you put in is totally worth it. Thank you so much for joining me!

I know so many of us dream about getting to stay home more, being with our kids, digging deeper into the slow and intentional life, but then reality hits, and the question comes up: “How do we afford it?” The good news is, there are ways that you can start making money from your homestead with a little bit of creativity, willingness, and taking a fresh look at what God has put in your hands. Today, we’re talking about simple, doable, realistic ways you can start generating income right where you are, whether you have acres of land or a backyard with a little patch of potential. This episode is all about opening your eyes to the opportunities right in front of you, that maybe you haven’t thought of just yet, and helping you take that first brave step toward the life you want.
I hope this episode has your wheels turning with some new ideas, and more than that, I hope it gives you a little spark of hope. You don’t need to overhaul your entire life or start some huge business to bring in extra income from your homestead. Even the small, simple ideas can end up making a big difference for your family.

When you think back on the holidays growing up, I’m willing to bet, the thing you remember most is not the decorations, not the presents, but the thing you remember most is the food. The smell of scalloped potatoes and ham in the oven, have half a dozen choices for pie, the treat tray of homemade goodies that would come out in the afternoon. Those are the memories that stick. But somewhere along the way, chances are after Grandma wasn’t making the meal anymore, our modern holiday season became so busy, so commercialized, that we traded those things for convenience. We grab the pre-made cookie dough, the store-bought pies, the boxed side dishes or the gravy packet, and while there’s nothing inherently wrong with that, I think many of us feel something is missing. Maybe you find yourself wishing for more or for holidays meals to be like they used to be. Today, I want to talk about how to bring real food back into our kitchens, and give your practical steps on how you create those special traditions for your family. You don’t have to be a gourmet cook or have a picture-perfect kitchen. With a little bit of prioritizing and planning, you can make delicious food from scratch that your kids will remember and talk about for a lifetime,  even when you are in the middle of a busy holiday season.
I hope this episode inspires you to make positive changes around holiday food this season, to start incorporating more real ingredients so you can feed your family well. But also know that this is not an all or nothing. This is not a legalistic thing that you shall only eat healthy non-processed foods. This is an opportunity to take baby steps towards better eating, and set your kids up to have a legacy of from-scratch cooking in your home. Thank you so much for joining me!

If you’re anything like me, this time of year can feel like your plate is full. Besides chores, school, kids’ activities, there’s everything that comes with changing seasons and holidays approaching. I know the days can get long and the to-do list even longer. And while putting healthy homemade meals on the table is high on my priority list, sometimes it feels like it’s just out of reach, and then I’m sitting there kicking myself again that we didn’t have a vegetable on the table. But, that’s where the slow cooker comes in. In this episode, I talk about how to make cozy, nutritious meals for your family when you are short on time using one of my favorite small appliances, my slow cooker. So if you are ready to simplify things in your kitchen while still providing delicious, healthy meals, I am so excited to share my favorite tips and recipes so you can focus on the things that are important to you in this season.
I hope this episode encourages you to bring out that slow cooker and make it work for you. It doesn’t have to be fancy, just an opportunity to simplify real food that feeds your family well. If this episode helped you, please share it with a friend who’s feeling stretched thin right now. Sometimes, a simple reminder that homemade doesn’t have to mean complicated can make all the difference. Thank you so much for joining me!
